Dr. Leavell is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, with training and research interests in structure, metamorphism, tectonics, and economic geology, however much of his research focuses on water resources management. As a long term resident of Licking County, he is involved in many aspects of environmental management and resource development on the local front, as well as the broader issue of water sustainability as it relates to climate change. His career has taken Dan from teaching to industry and back again, resulting in more than 30 years of diverse experience. Dan teaches at the Ohio State Newark campus, but is also an active member of the School of Earth Sciences in Columbus.
