SES' Mike Bevis Presents Research at AGU
Posted by: Michael Seufer
The Ohio State University School of Earth Sciences Professor Mike Bevis, Ohio Eminent Scholar in Geodynamics, presented research Friday at the American Geophysical Union in San Francisco.
Bevis' findings include an accelerated ice loss in Southern Greenland due to an unusually hot melting season in 2010. An extra 100 billion tons of ice due to conditions scientists would describe as anomalously warm.
This spike caused a noticeable uplift in the surrounding bedrock of up to 20 mm in some locations as measured by 50 GPS stations along the Greenland coast.
