Lonnie Thompson Receives International Science and Technology Cooperation Award

OSU School of Earth Sciences' Professor Lonnie G. Thompson has been awarded the International Science and Technology Cooperation Award by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. This award is the highest award that Chinese officials can bestow upon a foreign scientist.
Thompson is being honored for his more than 30 years of work studying shrinking glaciers and ice caps.
Lonnie is a distinguished professor of earth sciences who has led 58 expeditions to five continents. He has spent more time at altitudes above 18,000 feet than any other human.
