Posted by: Michael Seufer
The remaining ice fields atop famed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania could be gone within two decades and perhaps even sooner, based on the latest survey of the ice fields remaining on the mountain. These findings were published today by paleoclimatologist Lonnie G. Thompson, professor in the School of Earth Sciences at The Ohio State University, and his colleagues in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The discovery has been covered by several news outlets including CNN, Nature, and others.
